Global Managing Director for Smart Cities, Internet of Everything, Cisco Systems

Amr is the Global Managing Director for Smart Cities, Internet of Everything, at Cisco. In this role, Amr leads Cisco’s Smart Cities business across multiple domains: Traffic, Transportation, Energy, Public Safety and Security, eGovernment, and Utilities. Over the years, this business has seen significant success and more than 40% Year-on-Year growth, and Cisco is now the recognized leader in the Smart Cities industry, enjoying key lighthouse references throughout the world.

Prior to that, Amr led global sales for Cisco’s Emerging Solutions portfolio focused on key market transitions, creating an incubation organization and a solutions centric GTM model for Cisco, which is the benchmark adopted today across multiple businesses. Before his global responsibility, Amr led Cisco’s Public Sector segment for EMEA+Russia, and before that Emerging Markets. 

Previous to Cisco, Amr was the General Manager for the Middle East region at Hewlett Packard. In that role, Amr managed an organization that spread across 15 countries, where he started HP operations in many countries, setup local subsidiaries, and built a services organization. Under his leadership, HP enjoyed a dominant market share and strong growth across all market segments. 

Before the HP-Compaq merger Amr was the General Manager for the Gulf & Levant region, in Compaq as well. Amr joined Compaq in 1998 as a Sales Manager for the Egypt & Levant region.

Amr has started his career in sales with leading ICT firms in the Middle East region. He holds a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from Cairo University.

Amr is a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization).
