Managing Director Threatscape

Dermot Williams is the CEO and co-founder of Threatscape, which delivers cyber security that performs at scale. Its expert teams in Ireland and the UK provide business-critical IT security solutions to a client base featuring many of the world’s largest global enterprises. Example projects include a million-user firewall, an endpoint security and management solution for a transport firm serving a billion passengers a year, and a global malware solution for a financial firm transacting a trillion dollars daily.

Prior to establishing Threatscape, Dermot founded and led Systemhouse Technology, a pioneer in understanding the emerging threat of computer viruses. In 1989 it identified a relatively unknown 12-person start-up in California that had a solution to this threat, for which Systemhouse gained the exclusive Irish rights. That company was called McAfee – and Systemhouse was one of their first ever partners. Over two decades Systemhouse grew to become one of Ireland’s most successful providers of IT security solutions. In 2004 Dermot sold Systemhouse, but reacquired it in 2010 when Threatscape bought its assets.

Dermot is a frequent speaker on technology topics on TV, radio and at conferences, particularly those related to information security and digital privacy.  He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from University College Dublin and lives in Dublin with his wife and two daughters, where he enjoys discovering why golf is a four letter word.
