Dr. Franziska Bell is the Senior Vice President of Digital Technology at BP PLC, where she oversees software and platform engineering, data and analytics, as well as design and change management. Additionally, she chairs BP's Centre of Excellence, driving the acceleration of digital technology and fostering cultural transformation within the company.
Franziska is widely recognized as a digital technology expert and holds a PhD in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. She furthered her research as a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), specializing in approximate quantum dynamics.
Before joining BP in 2020, she had an illustrious career marked by significant achievements. At Uber, she spearheaded the platform data science organization, enabling every employee to harness data insights effortlessly. She also led groundbreaking research in battery and fuel cell materials discovery and artificial intelligence at the Toyota Research Institute.
Throughout her career, Franziska has been honored with numerous awards, highlighting her influence and contributions to the tech industry. Most notably, she was named one of the Top 50 Most Influential UK Tech Leaders in 2023.
