Ioanna Theodorous

Ioanna Theodorous

Co-founder, StartupAID

Ioanna Theodorou is a social entrepreneur using the startup mentality to reimagine how social impact can be achieved. Her approach was first developed when, fresh out of university in 2012, she co-founded Reload Greece, mobilising the Greek diaspora for Greece through entrepreneurship.

In 2015, having lived in Syria and now residing in Greece, she was deeply affected by the refugee crisis. Once more, she leveraged the power of social entrepreneurship and tech to generate a more impactful humanitarian response. The result was StartupAID, an impact accelerator supporting and growing grassroots projects into sustainable humanitarian ventures, co-founded with fellow entrepreneur Paula Schwarz.
During her time in Athens, she has been very involved in the local startup ecosystem, launched the Municipality’s social entrepreneurship program and is currently on the BIOS Athens Youth Board.
Ioanna continuously taps into her international upbringing and creative background to come up with new solutions. She has lived across Europe and the Middle East and holds a BA in History of Art (University College London) and a MA with Distinction in International Cultural Policy & Management (University of Warwick).
