Fabian Picardo became Chief Minister on 9 December 2011. He continued as Chief Minister following his second General Election win on 27 November 2015, and is now in his third term of Office following the General Election win on 18 October 2019.
The Chief Minister is head of Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar and is ultimately responsible for the policy and decisions of the Government. He is also Minister for Finance and oversees the operation of the Civil Service and public sector as a whole.
Born in Gibraltar 18 February 1972. Educated in Gibraltar before graduating in Jurisprudence from Oriel College, Oxford in 1993. Attended the Inns of Court School Law at Gray’s Inn, London, and was called to the Bar in 1994. Member of the Middle Temple.
Fabian Picardo was a Partner in the large Gibraltar law firm Hassans before becoming Chief Minister.
Elected Leader of the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party (GSLP) in April 2011, succeeding Joe Bossano who had led the GSLP since 1976 (Chief Minister 1988-96).

Married to Justine. Two sons, Sebastian Max, born on 15 April 2012, and Oliver Louis, born on 2 May 2015, and one daughter, Valentina Grace, born on 17 December 2017.
