Marton coordinates the EU’s response to the refugee crisis along the Eastern Med route, migration and security issues with the Western Balkans, and visa-free talks with Kosovo and Ukraine. Earlier, he advised President Barroso on Kosovo’s final status and oversaw internal security issues during Hungary’s EU presidency. At the European Parliament, he advised deputies on multilateral trade. Marton is a founder of Együtt, a Hungarian progressive-liberal party, and holds a D.Phil. and M.Phil. from Oxford, a B.Sc. from the LSE and is a graduate of Upper Canada College. Before joining the EU institutions, he had been a consultant at Oxford Analytica.
