After receiving a BS degree in Civil Engineering at Boğaziçi University, Başak received an MBA from Koç University and MSIMC degree from Loyola University Chicago. After a brand management career mostly in the United States with Revlon, Nielsen and Coca Cola, she quit her corporate career to found armut.com in 2011. Armut has been ranked in Wired UK's 100 Hottest Startups of Europe 2014 list, and selected as an Endeavor startup in New York in August 2014. Başak has been awarded as the Most Promising Female Entrepreneur of Turkey 2014 (by Garanti, Kadiger & Ekonomist).
